Nikon P610

A high-performance 60x (up to 120x* with Dynamic Fine Zoom) optical zoom NIKKOR lens constructed with a super ED lens element
The P610 is equipped with an ultra high-power 60x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that covers the wide-angle
24 mm to super-telephoto 1440 mm angles of view (equivalent focal lengths in 35mm [135] format). A super ED lens element that offers excellent image-formation performance and superior compensation for chromatic aberration has been adopted with the optics for sharp and clear rendering, even with super-telephoto shooting. In addition to Dynamic Fine Zoom, which enables 120x* zoom with which resolution is preserved in the digital zoom range, the camera also supports powerful macro photography of subjects as close as approximately 1 cm to the lens.
The P610 also offers Moon and Bird-watching scene modes. Use of these scene modes allows users to leave all of the work up to the camera when capturing such subjects, with which exposure settings can be difficult to choose and apply, for simple and enjoyable super-telephoto photography.

Dual Detect Optical VR that provides compensation for camera shake equivalent to a 5.0-stop* increase in shutter speed
With adoption of the new Dual Detect Optical VR, the P610 achieves the highest level of camera shake compensation, equivalent to a 5.0-stop* increase in shutter speed, available with a Nikon compact digital camera. This function calculates the amount of camera shake with even greater precision with a new VR algorithm that uses two types of information with calculation—camera shake information detected by the angular velocity sensor, and information regarding the direction and amount of camera shake (motion vector) calculated based on image information. This significantly increases the accuracy of camera shake compensation.

High-speed continuous shooting and a shooting time lag that ensure certain capture of any photo opportunity
The P610 offers even better basic performance than the P600 with a shooting time lag of approximately 0.12 s*1 and high-speed continuous shooting capable of capturing up to approximately 7 shots with a single burst of shooting at approximately 7 fps*2. These specifications mean that the camera is able to respond quickly to sudden or unexpected photo opportunities, ensuring certain capture of the desired moment.

The first COOLPIX camera to be equipped with an electronic viewfinder that automatically changes the shooting method in accordance with conditions
The P610 is the first COOLPIX camera ever to be equipped with a 0.2-in., approximately 921k-dot electronic viewfinder with approximately 100% frame coverage. Adoption of an eye sensor enables automatic switching from monitor framing to framing using the electronic viewfinder by simply bringing the camera up to the eye. The shooting (framing) method can also be changed manually by pressing the camera's monitor button.

Superior operation that supports comfortable shooting
  • A Snap-back Zoom button that makes framing subjects easier by temporarily expanding the angle of view when a subject is lost with super-telephoto shooting
  • A Zoom Microphone function that is linked to zoom operation with movie recording, enabling clear recording of sounds over a wide area at wide-angle zoom positions, or over a limited area at telephoto zoom positions
